Give Yourself Permission to Unplug and Regroup!

We all know that social media affects our mental health. And when that happens, it's more than okay to disconnect and take time off to recharge. So give yourself permission to unplug and regroup without feeling guilty. You can't be there for others if you don't care for yourself first.

It's so easy to get lost from reality while looking through social

media. My 2022 resolution was to lower my screen time and enjoy my life at the

moment. I wanted to be more present, and I noticed that I would easily get

distracted by my phone. When I put my words to action and eliminated any temptation

to look at my phone, watching the correlation between my anxiety and phone

usage was mind-blowing.

Here are some tips and tricks that helped me lower my screen time:

- Hide/remove app(s) from your home screen.

- Monitor how much time you spend on social media.

- Turn off all social media notifications.

- Schedule daily time away from the screen.

- Set daily time limits for app usage.

- Set up Do Not Disturb from 9 pm - 8 am.

Some of these features are included in my phone and have made it

easier to monitor the progress and percentage of screen time consumed daily and

weekly. I have managed to lower my screen time by 30% each week, according to

my phone. It also lets me know what apps I am utilizing more. Some Apps can be

downloaded to help monitor as well.

What tips and tricks have helped you? And if you have used any of

the ones above, which has been the most helpful? Any apps you recommend?

Remember to always put your mental health first.
